We’ve had a busy week with our module- grown onions going in at Bellahouston and preparation of space for our herbs and flowers to help beneficial insects. Our newly barked paths look great, too. Gartnavel has also been planted up with two types of onions, plus shallots. We had a visit from a supporter – more news to follow – and his review of our progress was very positive and encouraging.
Later in the week, we met up to add in our earlies at Gartnavel and met several of the other plot holders, an experience enhanced by the heat and sunshine, which is a natural boost to enthusiasm. New member Debbie gave our site the once over and seems a very natural addition to the team, with really good conversation and insight to our aims – so a big welcome to Debbie.
We had a further boost with news of our first successful funding bid – again with news to follow as the organisation decides on publicity, but a great many thanks go to all those who recognise the ultimate aim of our group and who see the ongoing benefits. The support element is important and our support for a Hustings event organised by the two Kaths and their associate Alastair was meaningful. Places were taken up quickly so our other members will be quick off the mark for their next event. So, all in all, it looks like a great summer ahead – whatever the weather!
