Hands Up if You Had Fun

Hands up if you’re having fun!

There are too many people to thank here – it would be a very, very long list of names and you’d stop reading – but I’ve contacted the many people who supported our very first open day, today and in the run up to the event, just to say thank you. Gabi led our mindfulness taster session which really had the required effect which bodes well as our sessions commence in July. The outdoor setting, in our high corner, worked really well as it has the most mature trees beyond the wall and the best of birdsong. We had lovely food and tisanes and a composting and flatworm workshop. Friends came from near and really quite far – very impressively Mr Christie – and on a cool and slightly damp day the warmth of friendship really made the day. It was a pleasure to meet Debbie’s friends and taste Mr McCabe’s delicious treats – even our iced teas went well. Someone suggested they’d even taste nice if served warm…

As a group activity we put up our gazebo for the first time – a good test of teamwork – and what a team! My role was clearly to be quiet – and I managed it AND followed instructions. We have new members joining too which will be a good opportunity for more people to share their talents as we build our new beds, shift our composting bins to make way for the wildlife pond and create a raised planting area.

Our shed will be receiving a refit too, just in time for members to set loose with their own projects as well as our joint activities, in preparation for our outreach goals and our planting aspirations. It’s all looking good. Thank you to everyone who contributed so much to our little community – what a great day.
