As Channel 4’s programme ‘The Autistic Gardener’ becomes ever more popular here in the UK, our very own autistic gardeners are gaining support and popularity around our home city of Glasgow. See our latest donation of this lovely greenhouse from Eloise in Lenzie – this is the ‘before’ shot and we look forward to showing you the ‘after’ shot in its new location – or it may be entered into the Turner prize, if we fail to reassemble the pieces (like that’s a possibility with our geniuses (not genii)). Thank you Eloise, it will be greatly loved.
Meanwhile, over at Asda Maryhill, Staff and customers dug deep and gave us lots of support and we made bucket loads of cash to supplement our planting and raised-bed building scheme – so huge thanks to Aeryn for organising that for us and thank you to everyone who supported our bag-packing fundraiser – no mean feat for a bunch of autistics – just goes to show how we should never be underestimated!
Our latest donation comes in the form of plants from Keep Scotland Beautiful – for our Gartnavel site, for which we are hugely thankful and new member, Jane is funding the purchase of plants to create natural dyes for a new arts and crafts programme, soon to be launched as well as donating crates full of arts materials – all related to our love of gardening and nature of course. So, if we’re not covered in soil in the next few weeks, we’ll be covered in paints or dyes or – well, only our imaginations can limit the list but as long as our faces are covered with the customary big smiles we should be doing ok.
We have exciting news to announce soon about our engagement with the CCA and forthcoming activities that you may like to join in with, either in person or via the magic of social media…keep watching.
