2016

Gateway to more opportunities

Gateway to more opportunities

A very happy 2016 to all, from the Auticulture Network Team.  We’ve remained busy, even over the holiday period.  Mark collected seaweed and created a ‘tea’ for our beds at Bellahouston and the final redesigns for the layout are being drawn up as we speak. Also in the planning stages are more of our popular collaborative events and we have a greenhouse to build and a new polytunnel to kit out for our herb growing project in the Daldowie community, which should keep all of us busy and give plenty of opportunities for our new members to get to know the team.

We’ve been given the ‘ok’ to continue at our first site for another season at the Applefield Beds at Gartnavel and we have a wildlife garden with a pond to design and build as well as the opportunity to learn about beekeeping at our new Kennyhill site and plenty more in the extensive grounds at Daldowie. There are lots of spaces for relaxation by the river, along woodland walkways and in tranquil gardens where we are joining forces with other group members to deliver an outdoor area for tai chi, yoga for autism and where we will continue our very popular mindfulness in the garden sessions.

We’re very privileged to have a lady called Jane leading up a group starting soon for arts and crafts influenced, as is much of life, by the beauty we observe in our gardens and throughout the natural environment.  Given the rate of our progress in our first season we have much to look forward to, this year and things have already got off to a great start so please look in again to follow our progress and catch up on our news. Happy gardening, everyone and should the weather prove to be inclement there’s much to be planned and organised and time is moving quickly…
