Links With Nature

Huggy Bear!

Huggy Bear!

David discovered new ways to get close to nature today as Colin, our cycling group leader, took us down to the woods where we were all sure of a big surprise! The bears were actually doing something quite impressive and noble (not at all what they have a reputation for) – standing tall and demonstrating some amazing wood carving skills in, appropriately enough, Bearsden.

We also managed to keep Colin on his toes and off his saddle as we each managed to jump our bike chains – more than once! So with mud on our legs and grease on our fingers we drew in the air, covered lots of ground and each discovered trails we never knew existed. All very exhilarating and we look forward to doing it again in a fortnight with a view to trying out a different day from next month as we know others who want to come along but can’t make a Friday.

So there are many ways to connect with nature and enjoy the benefits of its beauty and many other treats. It all goes a long way to leaving us feeling better and certainly blows away a few cobwebs. It leaves us better able to face the world and the conversation is interesting and often hilarious – making the best of our links.
